!Hubzilla Support Forum - I am messing with my new Hubzilla installation and I can't figure out how to set up social relay for outgoing posts. Is it even supported?

I have Diaspora Statistics and Diaspora Protocol apps enabled and they seem to work - I can connect to Diaspora, add people and I receive posts for tags I subscribed to from people I have no connection to. So social relay works inbound.

However if I make a public post with tags, it doesn't seem to get out via relay - I don't see it anywhere. Is there some additional configuration needed?

What I'm seeing here is that iliketoast is marked as dead in the site table and is being ignored in delivery. It must have been offline for an extended period in the recent or distant past. I believe there is code to automatically bring back sites and clear the site_dead flag if they suddenly start communicating again, but this may not be implemented in the Diaspora driver or it may not be implemented specifically for the relay. That will take more investigation.

That's what I can tell you. I would rather get a root canal by a dentist that's tripping on acid than work on Diaspora federation so don't wait for me to fix it. If you're in a hurry you can find iliketoast in the site table and set site_dead to 0. If you want to fix it the right way you should check that whenever we get a message from a site this happens automatically.

I checked the table though and it isn't marked as dead.

I suppose it isn't a big thing though as tags should distribute fine through existing connections. I was curious if it didn't work because it required additional configuration someplace (e.g. Diaspora pods have separate settings for receiving and sending content).

@Alex Deko [Hz] i have done a quick test and it appears to work. This message has been send to the relay only and it appears here: #^https://diasp.org/tags/fedtest1

If it does not work for you at the hubzilla side, you should probably see something in the logs...
